Our story starts
HENRY LAMOTTE IMPORT/EXPORT was founded in 1925 by Henry Lamotte, a merchant from Bremen, Germany. The company specialised in pharmaceutical cod-liver oil, cod-liver oil with high natural vitamin content and Livskraft skin cream.
We are the key to the solution - and have been for almost 100 years.

We are a pharmaceutical manufacturer
A short time later, we were qualified as a pharmaceutical manufacturer.
1950s
The era of Hans Henry Lamotte
During the rebuilding phase after the Second World War, Hans Henry Lamotte had a decisive influence. He took over the company from his father in 1950. He led it out of the ruins and into the era of the German economic miracle.
1959
We enlarge
In 1959, the company moved to new premises in Bremen's Hohentor harbour. These included offices, warehousing and modern bottling facilities.
50s-60s
Quality and diversity in vegetable oils
When it comes to vegetable oils, fats and waxes, we stand for competence and quality. As well as sourcing from Northern Europe, more and more is being done to source from the Mediterranean. We personally visit producers and growing areas. It is still an essential part of our work to travel to the source.
70s-80s
We are successfully expanding our range
From olive oil to table olives, tomato-based products and a range of Mediterranean fruit and veg. We are experiencing strong growth in line with the trend towards convenience and internationalisation. Our product range is constantly on the increase, our global network of suppliers is expanding and we have been very successful in the acquisition of customers in industry and trade.
1990s
Moving into the next generation
In 1983, Otto Lamotte joined the company as the third generation. He was followed by Henry Lamotte in 1992. Together they took over responsibility: Otto for 'oils' and Henry for 'food'. In 1996, Hans Henry Lamotte officially transferred the company to his sons as new shareholders.The business units were driven forward with a management team of four. In 1999, the company moved to new premises in the Bremen Freight Village (GVZ).
2000s
We become more innovative
In 2002, we began building the LIPOS oil mill at our former Hohentorshafen site, producing high-quality speciality oils. Today, Henry Lamotte Food GmbH is headquartered at this site. In 2005, we added a third hall to the GVZ complex.
2006
We focus
Henry Lamotte Food, Oils and Services operate as separate companies with the common objective and advantage of being able to respond to customers' needs in a more focused and specific way.
2012
Sustainable investments and the fourth generation
In 2012, the first of the fourth generation, Hermann Bosse, nephew of Otto and Henry Lamotte, joins the company. 2018 sees the arrival of Albert Lamotte, son of Otto Lamotte. Further investments are made to ensure sustainable growth, including improving quality, technology and infrastructure.
2021
New impetus with new leadership
In 2021, Sebastian Drewes becomes the new general manager of Henry Lamotte Food. He takes over from Henry Lamotte and gives the company a new impetus. In 2023, Christian Siebrecht joins the company and takes over the management of Henry Lamotte Services. In a new strategic set-up, the four Managing Directors will act jointly for the companies of Henry Lamotte.
