Market Report / Iran Update March 2026

The ongoing hostilities in Iran, along with the resulting destruction in neighbouring countries, are creating significant uncertainties and highly unpredictable market conditions. The Strait of Hormuz remains heavily affected. Daily, availability is tightening, and prices for crude oil, gas, and particularly LNG are rising. Production conditions as well as national and international logistics are being impacted.

We therefore expect higher production costs and longer lead times across global supply chains. Please contact us regarding your planned requirements so that we can proactively manage orders or explore alternative sourcing options for you. Our contract-based offerings help to secure your product availability – we would be happy to present our solutions to you.

Spargel

Asparagus
The price trend in China observed in 2025 is expected to continue into 2026. Last year, severe flooding in Shandong resulted in many asparagus fields being submerged under prolonged heavy rainfall. The long-term waterlogging caused oxygen deficiency in the soil, damaging root systems and severely affecting nutrient and water uptake. As a result, asparagus is growing thinner and yields are lower. Prices for the new harvest are now available – please contact us.

Datteln

Dates
Iran’s export ban has brought trade in dried fruits to a halt. Germany imports dates from Iran worth around €28 million annually – these volumes are now temporarily unavailable. Sweden and Denmark will also need to replace dates worth several million euros. This is causing significant shifts in the European market. In particular, the absence of the Iranian “Mazafati” variety has increased demand for alternatives such as “Aseel” from Pakistan. Flexibility in your product range is becoming increasingly important – with “Deglet Nour” from Tunisia and “Aseel” from Pakistan, we can offer attractive alternatives. Please contact us for more information.

Kokosmilch

Coconut
Current availability of raw materials is stable. However, we are also expecting longer transit times and delays in the supply chain. We will continue to be able to offer our range of coconut products in both organic and conventional quality. We therefore recommend planning your requirements early in order to secure volumes.
